Any Haitians in the United States on Temporary Protected Status should be aware that Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano has extended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for eligible nationals of Haiti through July 22, 2014.
Current Haitian TPS beneficiaries seeking to extend their TPS status must re-register during the re-registration period that runs from October 1, 2012 through November 30, 2012. The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has automatically extended the validity of employment authorization documents issued under the last extension of TPS Haiti for an additional 6 months, through July 22, 2013. If you have a TPS Haiti EAD with an original expiration date of January 22,2012, you are covered by this automatic extension and may continue to work.
If the USCIS approves your TPS re-registration application and you requested an EAD, you will be issued a new EAD with the expiration date of July 22, 2014.
Please contact our firm if you need assistance applying for this extension or have any questions regarding this decision.
